Ice Skating Party
Birthday Child’s Starring Role
Dressed as an Olympic gold medalist, your child can hit the ice in her finest skating outfit, complete with a shining gold medal.
Party Settings
Host your own Ice-capades at a local skating rink. Ask the management if they have a private room that you can rent for the meal portion of the party. If so, you can bring in balloons and streamers to make the room look more festive. If you can, take care of purchasing tickets ahead of time to avoid any waiting during the party time.
Party Leader
Invite a skating instructor to kick off the festivities with a performance of turns and tricks. Once the children have laced up their skates, the instructor can give some hints and tips on how to skate safely throughout the rink.
Party Fun & Games
The party leader’s demonstration will mesmerize party guests and make them want more. If it’s reasonable to set up a television with VCR at your party room, play tapes of Olympic skating or professional ice shows for further entertainment during the meal portion of your party.
Party Tunes
Skating rinks usually provide music over loud speakers, but if you are at a private location, allow the guests to choose their own soundtracks to skate to. Involve your child in the party planning by assembling a selection from upbeat show tunes, Top 40 hits are always great!
Party Refreshments
Serve cozy food that will fuel and fire up your Ice Princes and Princesses. Warm pasta and meatballs, pizza. Ice cream is sometimes served at rinks so try to pre-arrange to have ice cream served at your party.
Party Finale
Give skaters a chance to see their own fancy footwork. Film the children as they skate and show them the video of their grand performances during a refreshment break and present each with a medal honoring their achievements.
Birthday Presents & Favors
Colorful mittens will warm frosty fingers, especially if children forget to bring them. And this ice skate chocolate pop is a nice little comforting treat after the chilly ice skating rink.
Party Tips
Just in case one of your ice wonders takes a tumble, be sure to pack a first aid kit, although it may seem ironic, pack an ice pack!
